About This Role
You will be the sole HR representative in Malaysia, owning both strategic HR partnership and hands-on HR execution locally.
As the sole HR representative in Malaysia, you will partner with local Tech and Revenue leaders while owning hands-on HR execution across recruitment, onboarding, performance, employee relations, compliance, and culture initiatives, reporting directly to the HR Director.
Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

What You’ll Do
Strategic Partnership — Work side-by-side with business leaders to translate business strategy into people initiatives. Advise on org design, workforce planning, and team effectiveness of Tech and Revenue teams, including Engineering/Product and Sales/Customer Success/Product Delivery functions.
Talent Acquisition — Lead hiring for both tech and commercial roles, and build pipelines in the competitive AI/SaaS talent market.
Performance & Compensation — Drive OKR/KPI cycles, performance reviews. Partner on incentive plans.
Organization Development — Design onboarding programs that ramp new hires fast. Facilitate leadership development, team-building, and succession planning. Champion culture as the Malaysia team scales within a fast-growing global AI company.
Employee Relations & Compliance — Handle complex ER cases with discretion. Ensure local HR practices are aligned with Malaysian employment regulations and internal policies. Maintain clean HR data and dashboards.
Requirements
What You Bring
Must-haves:
- 5~8 years HR experience, including experience in both recruitment, and HRBP role
- Technology / SaaS / internet / startup company background — you understand how tech and commercial teams operate
- Proven experience hiring tech and commercial roles in fast-paced environments.
- Comfortable operating as the sole local HR representative while partnering with regional/global HR teams.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian labor law and employee relations
- Data-driven mindset — metrics over gut feelings
- Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and professionally proficient in English.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with OKR, KPI, or structured performance management frameworks.
- Hyper-growth startup (Series A–C) experience
- Hands-on use of AI tools in HR workflows
- Bachelor’s in HR, Business, Psychology, or related field
